Right, from the title, as you can imagine… my DJI Mavic Pro drone arrived.

I wrote about this back in October 2016  https://sippingfromthebrewingpot.com/2016/10/07/new-toy-need-to-get-this/

Plus again when I did my little plan for where I want to travel & big purchases, https://sippingfromthebrewingpot.com/2017/02/22/2017-travel-plans-big-purchases/

It’s the DJI Mavic Pro, the world’s best personal drone manufacturer, with its most compact design and arguably the best personal drone in terms of size and quality.

Pricey though.  Even though I saved 200 or so euros from buying from China and asking a colleague to bring it over, it’s still around the 1,000 dollar mark.  (with the added ‘fly-more’ package)

Anyway, here are some pictures:

The Fly-more package includes 2 extra batteries, 2 more propeller blades, a multi-charger, a car charger, and a nice bag to carry everything in.

To be honest, I haven’t had the chance to fly it yet.  It’s been raining and even hailing here.

So on Friday, I got that.  Then Saturday I thought…right its now or never… I’ve already pretty much made the decision on the camera I want… I’m just procrastinating from buying it… so I went out to a proper camera store and bought the camera I have wanted for a while.

By the way, the reason why I’m wanting to have this drone & nice camera is because of Galen & mine joint video channel.  The drone just adds a huge degree of perspective to whatever we’re filming…. Imagine being able to fly it over to a jump on a moto-X track, and capture perfectly the air that someone gets, or hover up and take an aerial view of the entire track.

At the moment all we’re getting is front & backward facing bike/ helmet cameras + on the sidelines normal photography….which to be fair shows you quite a bit, but you can never get the scale and the correct feeling that the rider gets…  of course the drone won’t be able to show everything, but it’s a nice addition to give viewers more perspective.

Of course, I’m going to be taking it out to the tulip fields, along with this new Panasonic G7 that I just bought to test out and showcase both products.  I’ll put up a video as soon as it’s a nice enough day and I’ve worked out both devices succinctly enough.

Anyway, here’s some pictures of the camera.

Its got a nice feature where the LCD screen can fold out and rotate, so you can view yourself when filming, or…from above.  Plus it has 4k video filming.  Which is pretty cool.

I just finished the book Hyperion, for which I’ll write a review for soon.  To be fair it is an incredibly well written book, but that being said, I wouldn’t really recommend it.

More on that later

The plan for this Easter weekend…is pretty much just having some time to myself and being able to get things done.  Camera bought, drone- yet to figure out how to fly  (waiting on weather); learning a new ability on adobe creative cloud-work in progress; write a few update articles- yet to happen; apply for international drivers license- not yet.

But hopefully, by the end of this weekend…. All of these things will be done, and it’ll be a huge weight off my chest.

Happy Easter everyone!
