So as you might know, every so now and then, Audible has a half-price sale.

For those of you not knowing what Audible is, it’s basically a subsidiary of amazon that concentrates on providing audio books… and it’s fantastic!

Read about why I love it so much here.

So the sale basically means each book is half-price from its regular price.

The way that Audible works is you buy credits, which work out on average at around 14 dollars if you get the yearly package.  And this 1 credit can be used to purchase any book.  Even if the regular price of the book is 40 dollars or something.

If of course a book is 7 dollars and you are paying 14 dollars for 1 credit, (which you’d normally exchange for the book), then it’d make sense to just purchase the book for the 7, rather than wasting 14 on it.

And that’s essentially what this half-price sale allows you to do.

So all of the books I picked up were because they were below the 14 dollar price tag of 1 credit.

They were all in my wish list, so I was eventually going to get them anyway.

But I guess its just a way for Audible to get some more sales, because you’re also going to be using your credits at some point too.

Anyway… the title picture, indeed shows the books that I bought.
Below there are links to the books so you can read the publisher’s summaries or listen to an audio sample, plus for anything that is related to these books.

As a Man Thinketh – A book recommended to me by one of my housemates, Bob- for who I’ll eventually be doing this Central Asian overland tour with.

The Zappos Experience – Was one of the recommended reading materials from Influence – mastering life’s most important skill.  And was also one of the books that Anthony Bucci, one of the founders of Revzilla.com (an online motorcycle apparel store) recommended and tried to model his business after- ie. Great customer service.   I think it’ll be an interesting listen.

The Slight Edge–  Another book recommended to me by Bob, but I could only find the ‘summary’ version of it.  I figured I’d start with that, and if it’s really good.. then I’ll consider finding the actual book. But this version was only $2, so I thought why not?

Ex-Heroes–  Every time I get a book by Drew Hayes (my favourite author)…in fact I’m currently listening to 1 of his books, or my 2nd favourite author Scott Myer, or something similar, this book is often recommended.  After a little reading, it seems from other people that also love the books that I like, this author Peter Clines is highly recommended by everyone in the Genre.  So I thought I’d give this one a try and see how it goes.  It’s apparently about Super Heroes vs zombies..   hahah so it sounds like an interesting concept.  It actually sounds like a terrible concept, but all the reviews convinced me that it’s actually pretty good.

For We Are Many: Bobiverse book 2 – I have been eagerly awaiting this one, ever since I listened to the first one, We are Legion, we are Bob: The Bobiverse. (read my review by clicking on the link)   I know stupid title, but an absolutely incredible book.  This just has a great concept and just keeps building on it… I am really looking forward to see where it goes.  Von Neumann Probes… look into it!

Of course I can’t start any of these before I finish my current book – Forging Haephestus: Villians’s Code Book 1; the book mentioned previously which is by Drew Hayes.  It is absolutely incredible.

I’ve been listening to it as I drive to work each morning, and it has certainly brightened up my days.

In fact I’ve only got about 1.5 hours left for which I’m sad about because it’s such an amazing book.

I will write a review soon.

Oh… and I found out… just by perusing audible.com after I bought all these books above in the sale, that the Magic 2.0 / Off to be the Wizard book is continuing with it’s release of the 4th book, called Fight and Flight.

Which obviously I’m eagerly awaiting.

Check out the cover and the description from the publisher.

Martin and his friends discovered that their world is computer-generated and that by altering the code, they could alter reality. They travelled back in time to Medieval England to live as wizards. Almost everything they’ve done since then has, in one way or another, blown up in their faces.

So, of course, they decide to make dragons. It does not go well.

As the wizards struggle to control their creations and protect innocent citizens, they try new things (most of which they don’t enjoy), meet new people (most of who are angry at them), and fight epic battles (most of which they lose).

But their biggest challenge may be a young girl who knows that the wizards created the dragons and is determined to make them pay. On her side she has powerful allies, a magical artefact, and a faithful if not particularly helpful dog.

Fight and Flight is a rollicking tale of bravery, wonder, love, revenge, greed, discovery, deception, and animal husbandry.

It sounds awkward and quirky… but still full of adventure.  Comes out 9th of May…. I wonder if I can finish all these other books before then…… ?

Time to start listening.
