Title of the book should be: Understand the mind of the people that keep voting to screw up your country

I was almost waiting for the line at the end of the book that said, “…actually…everything I said was sarcastic, go through and read it again to find the humour in it and the real points I was making”

If I had a favourite word, it would be sophistry, and this guy seems to be a master at it.

Sophistry is basically stating something that seems plausible but is in fact not true, or not plausible when put into reality.

Read the book and you’ll know exactly what I mean.

And if you read the reviews, you’ll see who the main demographic is that reads this book.  The book has mostly 4-5 stars on audible.  The little issue being that a lot of his points aren’t rationalised all the way through, and end up creating a hypocritical narrative.

But he says it in an entertaining way, and people want entertainment so … it sells.

What the book is about

Alfonzo Rachel essentially tells the world how he see it.  From his understanding of the bible, which he rationalises well, to the history of the republican and democratic parties, which is all true as well, and again he makes some fair points.

He then goes on to state that the liberal supporters should stop being hypocritical in their arguments against republicans and love to play the blame game….and then goes on to make hypocritical arguments and play the blame game.  It’s thoroughly entertaining.

Here’s the publishers summary, and you can judge for yourself:

Liberals are all about love. They love poor people…as long as they stay poor.
They love choice…as long as it’s not in education, energy, healthcare, or commerce.
They love rights…as long as we’re not talking about the rights of the unborn.
They love black people…as long as they stay on the Democrat plantation.
So they just love Alfonzo Rachel.

Weapon of A.S.S. (American Socialist States) Destruction obliterates liberal lies – from the so-called “party switch” to the money-grubbing self-righteousness of the green movement. Poverty pimps, Afrocentrics, RINOs, Demon-crats, whatevuh…all of you jive turkeys better watch out! ‘Cause Zo’s about to drop some truth bombs up in here!

The guy believes in what he believes, but he doesn’t use a logical process to get there.  More on that in the in-depth review & analysis.

The start about the bible is fine, if you believe, good for you; if you don’t, well then you’re just listening to a guy that’s passionate about something he believes in.  The problem is that he uses this belief to justify other arguments.

The history stuff again, interesting, and true.

And then he goes on the attack for certain issues within today’s modern political debate.  But he reasoning is sometimes there, sometimes laughably not.

You seriously need a lot of patience to listen to and finish this book.  If you take it as a learning opportunity it is difficult, but doable.  Read my notes on the analysis to see some of the things he says and the way he states them.

Oh and there are some weird songs, sometimes 3 minutes long singing about the issue… but are just very, very strange.  But it adds to the entertainment of the book.

Why you should listen to this book

If you’re a conservative and non-thinking then it’s good entertainment.  In fact, you may have already given this book 5 stars.

If you’re conservative and thinking, you can use this book to understand how some members of you conservative voting population think or rather blindly believe, and use that to your advantage to sure up and strengthen their arguments going forward.

If you’re liberal and thinking, you can use this to understand the significant weaknesses in conservative logic and utilise the examples in this book to strengthen your position.  You can also use the examples in the book to take a look at WHY you believe the things you do from a liberal perspective and make sure each one of the conservative concerns are address.

The ONLY way wouldn’t benefit from this book is if you’re liberal and not thinking.
If you’re the kind of person that’s constantly accusing people of being racist, without really understanding what terms mean.  Or saying that trump is 100% wrong, and no one in their right mind would vote for trump, then I’m sorry but you’re a a non-thinking liberal.  Or as the conservatives would call you a ‘lib-tard’.

Regardless of how the book sounds…it’s a learning book, you just have to take the lessons where they come.

Most people won’t listen to this book because at the end of the day its just not worth it for them.

If you do, you’re generally doing it because you want to understand the other side, then that’s great.  But when you read the notes I took, maybe you’ll realise that you don’t want to persevere with this book.

It’s the kind of book that incites anger, anger from both sides, so those that like debating will enjoy this.

After finishing this book I wanted to write to the author personally and ask him if he truly believes in the things he’s saying and engage a discussion, because as an opinion shaper… he has a lot of power and followers (after all, this is his career).  Getting at least some of his followers to see the hypocrisy in some of his arguments will already make the world a smarter place.  But its as most people will realise… some people will believe whatever they’re already thinking despite what evidence or different thought comes their way, sometimes its just a lost cause.

I hope those that have some real influence though, don’t see it as such.
